I doubt too many people at 12 Step meetings would laugh at a genetic susceptibility to addiction. The correlation between genetics and addiction is well established.

In fact, I'm fairly certain most folks at any Al-Anon meeting would laugh themselves sick if you denied a connection between addiction and genetics.

addiction is an extremely complex phenomenon where genetics, thus biological response, plus availability, plus peer pressure, plus life stresses, plus culture, all come into play.

This sentence will get a big round of laughter from the regular Saturday night 12 step meeting. You'd have them rolling in the aisles.

Grace,

"This sentence will get a big round of laughter from the regular Saturday night 12 step meeting. You'd have them rolling in the aisles."

Why? You don't think genetics are a factor in certain addictions?
