I can tell you that the folks who build and maintain cell towers are pushing this big time. Crown Castle is working to get TV up and running by mid next year.

It looks like Nokia is coming out with a handset with iPOD type functionality (storage with SD/MMC card).

I'm not sure if this is a great solution. Playing MP3's would seem to be easy but I think they may have severely crippled the phone function....inputting a phone number would probably be painful.
