I do not believe America will self-inflict that same wound again.

I agree. But if Kerry wins, and I get reports of a naked drunk running amok in Cour De Laine, I will understand.

I pray you are correct! The US cannot afford the damage he would bring to the US and the world.

I hope you're right. But I fear that most of Kerry's voters don't know or care about him other than he's not Bush, and sounds Presidential.

Trust me on this: If Kerry gets elected he will do the EXACT THING. I heard him say yesterday he would engineer an HONORABLE withdrawal from Iraq. That is BS. If the good Iraqi's feel we are going to abandon them they will run and hide from DEMOCRACY and go with the STRONGMAN of the region. This will make all our sacrifices to date WORTHLESS and the region highly more dangerous, though it would make JOHN KERRY look good for his expected short term in office. This is why it is SO IMPORTANT Bush be reelected. Bush isnt doing what is good for BUSH (if he were he would have rested on his laurels in Afghanistan) he is doing what is good for the COUNTRY and THE WORLD and he may not even be the one to reap the credit down the road. This is a long term affair not something done overnight. jdn

In the 1970s, John Kerry taught America how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Vietnam was a terrific victory for the USA and especially for those USA troops that fought and died there.

1. US Military established itself pre-eminent in the world.
2. In the end we left, not because we lost or were losing, but because it was really up to the Vietnamese to sort things out for themselves.
3. From what I hear and understand, the Vietnamese people, today, for the most part respect us if not love us.
4. Communism in Vietnam today is in name only.
5. Only a country as powerful and as confident as the United States could walk away from that conflict without killing everybody over there for no good reasons.
6. Things can not have turned out much better.
7. We won and we owe it to guys like you.
8. We did show them we are the best - by far - there is no arguements on this point. This losing thing is pure bs.
