Ford is about to release their SUV a hybrid one giving upper 30s or lower 40s. They have one of the top 10 R&Ds and there is a lot of cross licensing of IPs between Toyota and Ford on this hybrid thing. Next year Honda is going to make their Accord a hybrid. Toyota already started one of the Luxus on that line on top of their Prious. If Escort, Camry, Corollas become hybrid we will get a good leverage on fuel efficiency. One step at a time. I hope they can hop a few steps at a time. The Exxons and the Fords of this world will have to re-invent their organizations in order to stay relevant.
