Thanks for the statistics. Historically I think there was an equalizer in that business and sucessful entrapeneurs had a money advantage to mold public opinion. But today the Kerry campaign has just as much money as the Bush campaign. So perhaps inexorably the US evolves into the French model with government involvement in your life from cradle to grave and with associated very high taxes. This seems to appeal to Kerry.

In the future I'm not sure what motivation we have to get voters to support the overall health of the economy and not just their own self interest. In senate races maybe Republicians still have a money advantage?

All voters must pay taxes. Even if it is $100 per year. When you have no interest in lower taxes, all government programs are free. I AM NOT SUGGESTING A POLL TAX. But everyone should be made to pay something. Writing a check to the IRS is a least favorite activity.
