Bush Wins 3 States, Kerry 1 in Early Presidential Results By VOA News 3 November 2004 voanews.com U.S. television networks project President Bush as the winner in three states, as the first results come in from Tuesday's U.S. presidential election. CNN, NBC and other networks say the Republican incumbent has won Georgia, Kentucky, and Indiana. The networks project Democratic Party challenger John Kerry as the winner in the northeastern state of Vermont. The networks said they cannot yet call the race in South Carolina and Virginia, where the polls have also closed. Analysts have predicted that Mr. Bush would win both states. The networks made their predictions based on surveys taken Tuesday as voters left polling stations. Polls closed in all six states at the top of the hour. Pre-election surveys have indicated the election will be close. Mr. Bush and Mr. Kerry are competing to reach 270 Electoral College votes. Each state is awarded a certain number of electoral votes based on its population. In all but two states, the candidate who wins the most individual votes captures all of that state's electoral votes. More projections are expected less than 30 minutes from now when polls close in the states of North Carolina, Ohio, and West Virginia.

Watch the FL results as they're being counted: enight.dos.state.fl.us At 9:22 it was 47.7% of precincts counted, 51.8% Bush and 47.2% Kerry.

Well, you certainly are a smart one ;) Wrong. Battlegrounds looking good for Kerry. OH, Fla and Iowa, NM too close to call, but Kerry looks like he has PA, Minn, Mich. Kerry has small leads in OH and Fla so far. Iowa a tie. Whew!
