Many would have. It seems most the top military brass thought otherwise but were given orders. To react out of an emotion of pain and drive for revenge most often leads to deeper troubles. It's not that the matter can't be handled and the people brought to bear for what they did. Not that I'm saying I'm any good at not acting out of the emotion of the moment, rather than taking the wiser path... but I've heard it's a good thing to work on. :)
