I'm struck by the way that Kerry didn't have a blowout result anywhere. He took New Jersey by 7 points. He's leading in California by only 6 points. Gore took these states by something like 16 and 18 points, if I recall. Even in Massachusetts, he won by 62% to 37%, which is not a particularly impressive total for a favorite son Senator in a heavily Democratic state.

I think New York was his best result, he took it by 18%.
