I am amazed this country can be hoodwinked by a zealot who represents little more than empty machismo masquerading as decisiveness.

I'm disappointed, for sure. I wasn't one of the 91% who approved of him after 9/11. As soon as he trotted out his talk of "evil ones", I was turned off. That is code in the south, and code that is we don't bother to hide. As soon as you use "evil" to refer to people, then you open the door to use it for anyone you wish. "You're with us, or against us"... that leaves no room for opposition, and the evil tag will be applied. And I don't think it was a mistake that he opened that door.

I don't think Bush went too far in a game of chicken. It was a set-up. Saddam wasn't going to leave the country, but it sounded good and macho to say "you have two days to get out of town". But he leaves Bin Laden to roam the world. Saddam would not, and couldn't, strike this country. False macho to go after him. Bin Laden could bring down fire on this country again. Bush made his bold talk towards him, and has hidden ever since.

Yes, we are in the twilight zone. And we can't afford Bush in many ways. So the states with the money can go their way and see where Bush can find his silver to continue his wars. He can't defeat the world if they set their mind to it. And they will if he continues, and people in this country follow him on his path.
