Bush is the first president in the last 20 years(?) to get more than 50% of the popular vote.

The really major thing he has done is not only get re-elected, he increase his party's members in the House and Senate. Been 40 years since this has happened. Bush had coat tails, and this gives him a lot of clout in congress.

Karl Rove set out to do what McKinley did in 1892. Make the Republican party dominent for years. They held power from 1892 until 1912. He has succeeded.
