The loss of cash in the market was big enough to destroy the economy alone. The attack wasn't just NYC. It compounded a nervous market (both stock & job) and reverberated in such a way that it had impact on the entire country for months. The Tax cuts were done to make the pain a short lived event. Americans aren't willing to put up with longer term financial pain. The evidence of that can be seen by the mild recessions we had in 2002 and in 1991. Overseas jobs have been going on a long time....that wasn't started by Bush.

Could the cure (tax cuts) hurt us long term - yep! It's very possible. I hope thats not the case but I don't think John Kerry had all the answers either
