Giuliani to Kerry: Be a Statesman and Concede

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani called on John Kerry Wednesday morning to show "some active statesmanship" and concede the election to President Bush.

"The best way we can heal that is to have some active statesmanship," he told ABC's "Good Morning America." "And Sen. Kerry can do that. . . . Sen. Kerry can do a really good thing by conceding the inevitable."

Asked about the size of Bush's margin of victory, Giuliani said, "I don't think anybody thought that there would be a 3.5 million voter gap." But now, he said, "The lesson is that you have to unite the country."

Kerry campaign insiders have reportedly told friends they expect their boss to deliver a concession speech by early afternoon.
