Online is really the way to go. I gladly pay for the online version of the Wall Street Journal, and am generally willing to selectively pay for access to other information or resources that I consider to be of value to me.

Re the demise of newspapers - I think online news is a major factor eating into the subscriptions. Why get the paper when you can get all of the news faster online - and free for now But I see a trend whereby the online newspapers are getting us hooked using it and will gradually close most areas except to paid subscribers.
