The elimination of gerrymandered Congressional districts would be a huge step in that direction. We are left with extremists at both ends.

I suspect, make that hope, that Bush will move more to the center now that he no longer has to worry about re-election. It needs to be done if the GOP is serious about broadening its base.

I believe the only possible response by the democratic party is to, starting today, undermine the Bush administration in every way possible, and not let up until it is completely disgraced.

That's a toughie, Dave. The Republicans are getting better at acting like the structural majority of this country but the Democrats still have to learn to act like the structural minority they have become.

That just takes time...sweet, sweet time!<g>
