Soros selling dollars to hurt Bush? I believe Soros bet against the dollar because it was/is a smart investment play right now. Ask Warren Buffett. He has a huge investment bet against the dollar. He doesn't like doing it, but feels it is a wise investment choice. larry

Derrick,

"the news media paid little mind to George Soros selling the dollar to try and hurt Bush"

This sounds like a conservative canard to me. Soros can't affect the dollar, currency markets are just too huge. The Bank of Japan, the Bank of England and the US Treasury can't do much about where the dollar goes.

Now, George can certainly hitch a ride in the right direction on currencies once in a while, but he's a surfer, not a wave creator.

Interesting you would mention George Soro selling dollar to hurt Bush and China pegging Yuan to US in the same post. Do you realize because China peg Yuan to Dollar, they're force to buy US treasuries to support the dollar. In fact, many countries that export to US are doing the same thing. The foreign reserves between China, Taiwan, HongKong, and Singapore total over $900 billions. How much dollar does Soro have to sell to move the market?
