I didn't even known what thread I was on here. Poet had PM'd me that she'd posted a final post on SI, & included the link. I clicked reply.

Last night Po told me about a challenge of Quahog's she'd accepted. I assumed Quahog was a Republican.

Sure, if you're insisting you're certain about who's going to win, someone can ask you to put your money where your mouth is and if you won't, they have a right to doubt your certitude. (Personally, I'm in no trouble, having predicted a Bush victory weeks ago; I wavered in my pessimism a tiny bit day before yesterday, but these results hardly surprise me. (Amaze but not surprise...))

(But there's nothing wrong with requiring someone to pay off their bet, either, even if I personally wouldn't do it if what the payoff was, was just keeping someone off SI with whom I disagreed. The "I told you so" moment would be fun, though!)
