The additional 4 Senate seats will (should) help immensely with judge appointments, including the Supreme Court.

Now if we just had a few more Zell Miller types among the Democrats <g>.

It should be quite instructive to see whether the new Senate minority leader is as obstructionist as Daschle was.

If Rehnquist retires, we can expect a conservative jurist. Ditto if any of the other Justices decide to call it quits.

Extremely important. This is why I was so excited over the new 55/45 Senate mix. Bush will get conservative Judges now. It will be presented as a pro/anti abortion fight. But the most important is property rights and rule of law.

The "Gay rights" movement took a hit I predicted from the start with the passing of the marriage amendments. I expect more to pass. Califonia kept the "three strikes" law in force.

I wish we could do something constructive about drug law, but I don't see much hope for it.

What is the rule for cutting off the technique of filibustering that has been so effective in keeping out Bush's judicial appointments so far? Is a majority sufficient, or can the tactic still be effective? Are there things that a simple majority can do to overcome the obstructionism of the minority? Thanks.
