I agree. Rove's strategy of stirring up the base, and incenting evangelicals to 'smite the heathens' is what carried Bush to 51%, and swept the South... only, what demon will they tilt against in 2006 in the off-year elections?

Also, the 'pottery barn rule' now applies:

"In 2000, over four million Evangelicals..."

Why is the term "evangelicals" used so much now? I always thought that specifically was for people like Billy Graham that publicly evangelize.

Is it now a term used to describe Christians in general? Or has it always been? I was a bit perturbed at its constant use last night on the news channel because it seemed they were labeling Christians as some kind of radicals (not that I think Graham is a radical) as opposed to just normal people with Christian beliefs.

Johannes...interesting spiel, altho somewhat Michael Moorish in a right leaning way...I would only disagree with the last paragraph...as one of the evangelical legions you mention...our ranks are increasing tremendously as we boomers move into the ranks of the elderly...two large evangelical churches in south palm beach county growing virtually exponentially, almost certainly reflective of the rest of the country...you place little faith however in the outcome...determined not by man, but by god...we will not lose the moral upperhand in this country to Hwood, gay marriage, abortion...whatever it may be...not gonna happen, never
