China's allure overcomes patent theft fears

SAN FRANCISCO – The lure of the vast Chinese market will keep high-tech investments flowing there despite lingering concern over an economic slowdown and the threat of chip design theft, U.S. electronics makers said Monday.


"So far they (China) have proven extremely adept at handling their economic transition," said Sean Maloney, executive vice president of Intel Corp. "I am not saying that will carry on forever but there are no signs that I can see that it won't carry on," he said.

"So far, all the people who warned (China) couldn't engineer a soft landing from over-investment were wrong," he told the Reuters Semiconductor Summit in San Francisco.
