Statements made by the commentators and "experts" even indicated that Kerry was going to win big. So, what happened? Personally, I don't buy the argument that voters being polled could have been embarassed to admit that they voted for Bush. We've been living in a country where people have been told for months that it was unpatriotic NOT to support Bush. Why would people then be embarassed to admit supporting Bush? I would be more likely to believe the opposite, that voters in exit polls were embarassed or even afraid to admit they just voted for Kerry. I know very little about computers and even less about electronic voting machines. But I do believe that it would be entirely possible that machines built by a company whose CEO was quoted multiple times saying "he'd do anything to help Bush get elected" could have been tampered with. I watched a CNN or MSNBC reporter interview a Florida woman who had voted on an electronic machine. She stated that she had voted nearly a straight democrat ticket except for one or two races. She had voted for Kerry. She also said that when she went to the "review vote" screen, it showed that she had voted straight republican. She wouldn't let the precinct people do anything to her machine until she had a lawyer there with her. Once the lawyer arrived and the machine was examined, it could trace the buttons she'd pushed and confirmed that she had voted for Kerry and most other democrats. Supposedly, the precinct stopped using the machine. My question is, how many previous votes on that machine could have been messed up, AND how many other machines across the nation could have had similar "problems" or similar programming. I wish that we could unite somehow to insist that all electronic voting machines be retrieved for an official investigation. If there was no fraud, there should be nothing to hide. My husband works as the Democrat "judge" (there's a Republican judge, too) for tabulating election results in our county. This year's election was the first for our electronic machines. He had to go in a couple of different times to observe "testing of the machines" prior to the election. I asked him if the clerk ever set up a test sheet with various votes for the various races representing 100 voters, then physically vote each of these 100 "test" ballots just as actual voters would and then compare the results. You could see if the computer's voter tallies in each race matched the original data. He said the tests they had done were not like that. The tests just made sure that the number of votes cast matched the number votes counted by the computer tally. I would guess that nearly all machines were tested in a similar manner. No concern was given with credibility of information in tally, just quantity of information. I truly believe that the Rove/Bush/Cheney corporation would not blink an eye in conspiring to tamper with votes. They probably believe the average voter is too stupid to vote anyway. blackboxvoting.com
