I am not familiar with any rich widows or divorcees.

Nor am I.

I married a poor widow, as poor as me then, with a gigantic heart. She had been very happily married.
She was a teacher. Her first was a firefighter killed in a mountain hiking accident.

Unlike many divorced men and women, she was unsullied by any hatred for the opposite sex. I did not know about those things then.

It took me a long time to recognize my find. Almost too long, I often thought. Eventually I did wake up. Later I learned she had told her family she met the man she was going to marry over a year before I proposed. Her dad still kids me about that in public situations. I respond, if I knew about him what I know now I might have waited longer.

Today is her birthday. I asked her last week what she would really enjoy. She told me a movie and Chinese take-out with a nice bottle of wine. We did that. She is talking to her sister now.

I love this brilliant but simple woman.

I also promised her a nice break after the election. Tomorrow morning we will wander towards Seattle for a few days. Not certain we will get that far. We stop a lot to sightsee and hike.

A lot of good work has been done here. I appreciate all the data I collected here and was able to pass on.

Ya'll are winners. See ya again in a few days.
