A friend of mine in Brazil wrote me the following message regarding the re-election of George Bush:-

Reflecting on the win of George, in the real world, the lesser man may win simply because there are more lesser men than better men in the population.

(1) If O.J. Simpson can be acquitted of murder in the US, so can George W. Bush be re-elected in the US;

(2) If "I-am-not-a-crook" Nixon can be re-elected, so can George Bush!

To be sure, America is not what it used to be.

To be sure, the religious right was a very big factor, especially in the south.

A chess grandmaster once told me: "A third rate master can sometimes play a grandmasterly game! Sometimes an upset occurs when a game is won through fortuitous circumstances than from well-planned strategy."
