It is so nice to hear another moderate and compassionate voice speaking out here. I remember Helen from before she was even born, since there were various opinions on her name. I really like the name Helen--it is traditional and the sounds are soft, and I absolutely loved the Helen who was the young veterinarian's wife on that great old English PBS show which took place during World War II, the name of which of course now totally eludes me but lives on the tip of my tongue, driving me crazy. Will someone please put me out of my misery by telling me the name of that show?

I am sorry to hear of your ills--as you can see I myself am suffering from cobwebs-in-the-atrophying-brain disease. I am no longer still in [previous place], and like most of us who found SI long ago am attempting to be much more anonymous than I was then. I do live in a beautiful green place and have come to love the forest with the same awe and peace the beach once gave me.

Your son Tom sounds like a chip off the old block. It is so amazing to watch your children develop from soft folds of vanilla-scented skin, babble, finally speak, and gradually become articulate and reasoning beings. I bet you will have many wonderful memories to cherish, as they will of you.

If this were really an open space, would you still fear it?
