Yes, but I really doubt at this point whether he is the person who posted on our board. Someone could have very easily found his name on the internet and pretended to be him. As mentioned, his group claims to represent 350 property owners, whereas Gabriel has talked to people in the area and thinks that at best he might represent 50 property owners, 5% of the total affected. My own take is that blackmail may be the aim of at least some of these, but of course their main ammunition in blackmail would be to spread disinformation in the western media because within their own sphere they can be expropriated at what courts decide is a fair and generous amount. I do know just how poor that area is, and I can readily believe that the people there are interested in getting nicer, modern homes built for them in the area of their choice and that the entire area is interested in the jobs and economic spinoffs that will help pull them out of crushing poverty. As for the environmental impact, the plan seems to have very comprehensive to ensure safety, and Newmont entering the scene makes it more safe.
