Nice in theory but what about in practice? If the alternative is basically a political civil war that will undermine the country?

The US Constitution was never developed to have MOB RULE. In fact, it's basic premise is that the 'tyranny of the majority' is to be guarded against. It's protection of minority rights that makes the US the country that it is.

Maybe we should fine people who don't vote. I think Australia does that.
