Ha,

I once heard a "liberal" (college town, what can I say?) say he wanted to see a billboard erected that said "Jesus Christ Sucks". I asked him (this was in a group) that if he had a tenant in his apartment who was a devout Buddhist and chanted "Nami amitabhu, Nami amitabhu" wouldn't he think that was great? Wouldn't he be interested in learning about Buddhism?

Yes, he said.

But then I asked, if he had a tenant, a devout Christian, who sang hymns at night "On a hill far away . . ." would he even be curious or civil to the young man? Or would he treat him like a leper?

Tolerance? Yes, but the right kind. Freedom of speech? Yes, but the right kind.
