Rove is a POS but he's also a great tactician. He uses strategies that work with his audience.

The key difference is that Rove has to lie in order to win because his policies are against the interests of his audience. That's why he says bs like McCain fathered a baby with a black prostitute (The McCains adopted a daughter from Mother Theresa's orphanage in Bangladesh). That why he morphs Max Cleland's image into OBL's for a campaign ad.

If he had to actually run his candidates on the ISSUES and on the POLICIES, he'd melt into a puddle of goo.

Rove uses tactics and strategies to disguise and hide his evil reality.

The moderates and progressive can adopt many of the methodologies (relentless grassroot organization and propaganda for example and domination of the media through constant pressure) but without the evil intent.

"The most effectual engines for [pacifying a nation] are the public papers... [A despotic] government always [keeps] a kind of standing army of newswriters who, without any regard to truth or to what should be like truth, [invent] and put into the papers whatever might serve the ministers.

This suffices with the mass of the people who have no means of distinguishing the false from the true paragraphs of a newspaper."
