SS has been a joint venture disaster for both parties.

<< $2 TRILLION is going somewhere >>

Correct, it's going to investments that earn more than the current rate of return that SS currently brings in.

<< ....to "fix" SS. >>

True, even though you are being sarcastic. SS can be fixed if we invest some of the money in vehicles that offer a higher rate of return.

<< It's also coming from somewhere, let me guess....uh, I think SS. >>

Yep, it comes from young people's social security taxes, so yes it comes from SS.

Did you happen to buy a house ten years ago or anything like that? If you did, you took money out of your savings for a down payment. You bought the house (ie. invested your down payment) and if you wanted to sell your house now, you would probably get many, many times your down payment back.

Very similar situation. You made a short term sacrifice (the down payment), but it paid back more than you ever thought possible.

Dave

The biggest problem is that there is no fund that holds the money...........those that pay in support those that are collecting. TO start private accounts the money will be paid to brokerages and can't be used to pay the folks that are collecting. The cost will be huge and SS funds will dry up. Plus...........fees will have to be paid to advisors.......................people will be getting rich off this...................it's the beginning of the end of SS...................don't trust your broker now???????? well guess what will be happening to that money...........LOL,,,,,,,,,,,,,,what a bunch of dam fool suckers!!!
