Seriously, there were buckets of money in SS just a couple of years ago. My friend who worked there said "No worries". She's changed her tune in the last six months or so. They don't like GW much at SS.

The choices are:

- raise the retirement age
- means-test benefits (aka make it a welfare program)
- tax benefits
- raise taxes
- ration Medicare
- cut SS benefits
- cut Medicare benefits.
- Encourage mass immigration of under-40 workers to create a much larger payroll tax base

A real solution probably would involve all of the above.

Which ones do you think Bush will propose, and how do you think us boomers will react?
