Kerry lost for a lot of reasons ... It's so sad .....

.......... The main problem is the serious shift of middle class workers to the Republican Party regarding issues that seem to set up the divide: abortion, guns, and gays. The electorate also seems to love saber-rattling. Reagan did it with the Soviet Union and Bush the Lesser now does it with the Middle East.

Kerry's real problem was that Bush very cleverly neutralized the issue of the war in Iraq by getting "approval" of his actions, so to speak. Kerry could have easily distanced himself early on from the war by clearly stating that he had only authorized Bush to act responsibly. The problem was the majority of Americans have basically supported the war from the get-go. Hence, Kerry decided to be "Bush Lite." He was basically fighting a losing battle from that point on. His August comments about WMDs in Iraq being irrelevant to his vote were a joke.

The only reason Kerry's campaign ever got off the canvas was that Bush looked like the total moron that he, in fact, is at the first debate. Kerry always looked good in the debates. Kerry, unlike Bush, is a rather intelligent human being.

The public loves our average Joe President. Kerry was sort of French, I guess. Hell, he has a wife from some country in Africa, of all places. Laura is kind of regular, if you accept her weird brain transplant of years past.

Clinton destroyed the Democratic Party. He only cared about himself and left the Party leaderless. Reagan built the grassroots of this Republican revolution, however hideous.

The Republicans energized their base and got them out to vote. Kerry's impassioned plea for gay couples at the third debate helped the Republicans even more to energize their base. His comments about Mary Cheney weren't anywhere near so important as his follow-up plea. As ridiculous as it may sound, Bush's comments about God sending him to Afghanistan really helped get out the vote. Kerry just didn't energize the base. He didn't get out that vote. Hell, the youth didn't really get out to vote. Even with P. Diddy's "Vote or Die" and Eminem's pleas. Kerry didn't energize the base because he totally focused on the center and took the left completely for granted.

We all thought the Democrats really got out the vote. I don't think it did. We need to figure out what out base is and get it energized. It's simply not one represented by a traditional Massachusetts liberal pretending to be a centrist. People didn't take him seriously. I really like the guy, though. He was my choice all along. But like I told American Spirt about 12 or 15 months ago, Kerry was not the right guy to nominate because the country would never elect a Massachusetts liberal. I guess I was right. I guess I was just dreaming when I got psyched up after the first debate.

There's no doubt now that Clark would have the best nominee for Vice President, Scott. He's a great man. Edwards was fine, though. Kerry just never trusted letting him loose.

We have a pretty stupid electorate. It's really been fooled by this hideous president of ours. It's baffling. I hate to see the country go down the tubes just to be proved right that he's got a ridiculous agenda.
