Yep... 'war bond' drives, scrap drives, etc., but he ALSO raised the top marginal federal income tax rate to 90% too.

WW II wasn't all on the credit card.

(And, after the war, debt was paid down --- at least until the next brace of wars came along, what do you think the odds are for that this time? Considering the first wave of boomer retirements starts hitting the budget in 6 years?)
