Even though I voted for Kerry? <GGG>

I must admit, the one part that I do not get on the other side is the desire to cut everything so clean one way or the other. You are for it or against it.

For instance, I am both pro-choice and pro-life. Does that seem Kerry-esque like "I voted for it and against it"? I do not believe that it is. I think that one can respect the integrity of a woman's right to choose what to do with her body AND the sanctity of life. I have yet to see how Bush and the Republicans can reach out to that kind of thinking. There are much better ways to protect the unborn than legislating what a woman can do with her pregnant body.

It is really not as easy as Bush makes it sound. I remember him saying in the debates about partial-brith abortion: "You are either for it or against it". Kerry's argument was true in my mind. The partial-birth abortion ban as it was written by Congress was unacceptable to someone who believes that a woman should never be required by the government to sacrifice her own life for that of her fetus. The problem with Kerry was that he sullied the reputation of people like me who do not think that right and wrong is so easy to decide upon. The only reason he could not make up his mind was that he was ambitious and trying to appeal to everyone. That is a sick reason for making the arguments that he made.
