No, I think that's a dim memory by now I think it is still alive as a force and as a Jewish reaction in the "over 50" crowd. If you were raised in the 40's and 50's, you picked it up as part of your environment. The movie, "Exodus," was the start of the end of it here for the general population. I doubt if it is a general force among most people growing up now. The concept of the "gutty little Jews" helped, but the rise of Israel after the '67 war caused the left, who don't like war heroes, to get it back.
