Am I wrong in equating rising debt to monetary inflation? I know figures have been presented showing a slowing of the money supply. Is this simply a narrow definition, and is not new debt just another means of money supply?

The reason I question this is because some very bright people have pointed out the shrinking money supply, which supports their contention of deflation.
