<no RoamAD. I use vonage.com and see no particular reason to change.>

Jay, you can't change to RoamAD, unless you buy your own network for Hong Kong, which I recommend, being a shareholder.

But I do recommend you check out skype.com which will render that expensive rip-off Vonage irrelevant.

Free calling, internationally, from Skype to Skype, with improved quality compared with any telephone links and only US2c a minute from a Skype user to most landlines around the world and to USA cellphones.

You can't beat that!

It's great.

Check it out and join the 21st century.

I'm not sure that you can buy a mobile phone device for either CDMA or GPRS/EDGE networks to run Skype yet. I'll check. I think there was one announced, but probably not available in Hong Kong yet.

Free calling with high quality is a very good deal. Over cyberphones, it won't be free because service providers in most places are greedy with their data charges, but some 1xEV-DO services are getting it right = selling a big pipe and turning people loose to use all they like.

Skype has the biggest network effect in human history on a roll. 31 million downloads and growing at 10,000 an hour, day in, day out, week after week and accelerating. Plus they have messaging etc, unlike that silly old Vonage thingy.

PS: So far, it looks like just PocketPC enabled PDAs with WiFi links. So RoamAD would be good. No 3G services are available yet. Nor GPRS/EDGE. Give it a few months as I'm sure Skype will be on the case to get 3G access.

roamad.com [for ease of reference - please buy it everyone, build yourself a network in your town/city]

My long distance service are two calling cards SuperQuick (3.3 cents/min. from US to China and HK) and SuperClean (2.22 cents). Similar low rates for interstate calls within mainland US. Too bad the service is not available from China.

Unbelievable deal! And I thank Yiwu for telling me about these cards.
