If Bush was so proud of it, why was Congress lied to about the total cost of the program? Everyone knows this is a hugely complicated major boondoggle for the drug companies.

I dont think hardly ANYONE realizes just how GREAT Bush's prescription drug program is for Seniors. I have read everything I could find on it, mostly through AARP and here is what I found in a NUTSHELL.
Initially its merely a discount card BUT beginning in 2,006 it really kicks in pretty good.
1. EVERYONE is subject to a worst case scenario of I think its 3k or 6k (forgot which) of TOTAL drug cost a year. This means its Catastrophe Insurance for all.
2. Those making under a certain annual income level actually get their drugs for FREE.

Now, this is AS AN INSURANCE PLAN SHOULD BE. There will NEVER be absolutely free drugs for EVERYONE, if that were so, not only would they be very abused but the cost would be ASTRONOMICAL.

Here is a great thing that is part of the plan that I never see mentioned. EVERYONE when they turn 65 gets a FREE complete physical, then a health maintenance plan is laid out for you to try and keep you in the best of health. This plays on the old, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure idea. jdn
