I don't feel personally threatened by the Bush Regime. I'm far too small a player for them to take an interest in my meager efforts. If you are using the term "paranoid" as a substitute for "conspiracy theorist", then I will gladly tell you that that somewhere between 10,000 and 1,000,000 conspiracies get launched every business day. These are alternatively described as proprietary corporate decisions, taken behind closed doors. To say that I'm paranoid for observing that the world runs according to plans created by man is not very useful. Now is it? *** Re: If you were running for president, can you list what the major points of your platform would be. Actually, I've been thinking about doing something along these lines for a while now but I haven't gotten around to the task. So I'll briefly mention what I see as so dramatically evil and despicable about the Bush scheme and present a rational alternative view. 1) We need far greater transparency in government. At least 95% of all classified documents should be made available to the general public immediately. 2) Sunshine laws should prevail, and as President, I would have no real power over the Congressional leadership in their closed door ways of grinding the legislative sausage. However, I would make it abundantly clear to the Congress that it has to mend its ways. Any bill sent to me to sign will have the following characteristics: No omnibus legislation permitted. No earmarks of any significant value permitted. No secretive riders permitted. Any legislation incorporating these unscroupulous features will be vetoed and remanded to the Congress for correction. 3) It being a moral obligation for each generation of Americans to not impose a financial burden on succeeding generations, every effort would be made to rein in the outlandish and absurd fiscal deficits created by a profligate monster like George Bush. It must be made plain to all Americans that federal budget deficits are a subtle way of enslaving the taxpaying population in the nation. And that the imposition of a gargantuan national debt is both a moral and economic nightmare for this nation going forward. 4) We must recognize the insanity of the fear campaign being currently run by the fascist militarists in the White House and the Pentagon. The waste in the military budgets is obscene, and needs to be addressed with rationality and what actually might be called a prosecutorial zeal for great transparency and honesty. All "swinging door" moves by military men above the rank of captain in the navy or lieutenant in the army into the private sector contractors directly contracting with the Department of Defense shall be outlawed. 5) A return to the total separation of Church and State is essential to the well being of this nation. 6) An energy policy stressing the resources available in the territorial lands and waters of the U.S. shall supercede our outrageous imperial grasping in the Middle East and Eurasia. 7) Currently the U.S maintains over 725 military bases in over 130 nations. No other nation on Earth has this level of imperial projection. As President, I will begin to lower this level of crass militarism and thereby lower the terror threat to America in a dramatic fashion. 8) The U.S. Space Command, which is calling for "full spectrum dominance" will be severely curtailed and brought back into compliance with existing international treaties. 9) U.S. out of Iraq. 10) A rational policy toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict respecting both the pre-1967 territorial integrity of Israel, and the right of the Palestinians to live in peace in spite of the obvious insanity of their brutal neighbor. 11) Get the government out of women's health issues such as abortion. 12) Rationalize resource extraction industries, including a complete update of the 1872 Mining Act, grazing fee structure, forest management for recreation and conservation as well as selective harvesting. 13) Rationalize fisheries management with the emphasis on sustainability. *** So, that's a start. I could probably type until you get really bored. But not now.
