Regarding throwaway health advice - a crusty old coach on the show "King of the Hill" who had just this to say to a kid who was in pain:
"Walk it off".
or if there was some walking issue like a collapsed lung:
"Take a salt pill."

Sometimes people have overly high expectations of prozac etc. They want to be like those animated cars in the Chevron ads (the ones done by the genius behind "Chicken Run") - the outside might be a little dented and dirty, but the engine sparkles thanks to (brand name) with (special ingredient).

I hate being off warranty.
