We also had an increase in employment after 9/11, but was that figured into the count? It doesn't matter, it had to be done and is a part of the economy. Trying to tie disasters (or in the case of the 9/11 terrorists attacks) to the economy is an outside force and should not be factored in.

I guess what I'm trying to point out is that there will always be temporary work subsequent to unforeseen happenings, and to say we need more hurricanes to bolster the economy merits condemnation by most of us.

Maybe your post was tongue in cheek, but it did strike a nerve.
