There is not enough business for passenger trains to stay in businee, people like their cars and flying. But the gov. thinks it's important to keep the rails in good shape incase of war. It's debatable.
I'm not always thrilled with Gov aided Businesses, but businesses do hire people which in turn those people pay taxes thus paying the gov. back and keep people working. That doesn't happen with welfare to the poor.
