"protecting people's safety from unknown drugs" Yet sometimes --- as in the case of 'Red Yeast Rice', used safely in Chinese medicine for millenia... and the very thing that the active ingredients in all of today's most popular prescription cholesterol-lowering medicines were identified from --- the FDA bans something apparently only to PROTECT THE LARGE PROFITS OF THE BIG PHARMACEUTICALS. So now, this herbal remedy that has been used for thousands of years (and, on which the FDA had NO medical complaints), but which was very inexpensive compared to the PATENTED DRUGS which were derived from it --- gets banned in America by the FDA after the drug companies complain it could cut into their sales.... (Surely you didn't think that all of the FDA's actions were really taken for health reasons, did you?)
