re: On an average day some 20,000 people in the United States log onto the Web site, www.cic.gc.ca -- a figure which rocketed to 115,016 on Wednesday. The number of U.S. visits settled down to 65,803 on Thursday, still well above the norm.

I suspect the current animosity between pro-Bush and anti-Bush (I don't see it as Cons/Lib) is not going to go away... I think it will fester and grow, worse and worse. But my crystal ball is clouded, I just do not have any idea how this is going to play out.

I think its already started. There were demonstrations yesterday in SF and Portland. A high school in Colorado went on strike. There will be more as Bush implements his policies now that he believes he has a 'mandate'. Those demonstrations will grow increasingly violent....esp. if Bush invades Iran.

I believe there will be increasing polarization within both parties.....some members jumping parties to be more in alignment with their own personal ideologies. Filibustering will become a major tool used by the Dems in the Senate.

A scapegoat is needed besides OBL. I think the right has decided that gays will be the target. Opposition to gay marriage was used very effectively to get Bush re elected. Watch for more of this type of manipulation.

There were Republicans who voted for Bush because they feared a Kerry presidency.........the moderate Republicans Eventually, those Republicans will begin to realize the mistake they have made. By that time, it will be too late. Bush will be well entrenched. Whether the Bushies will try to restrict our civil liberties in the next 4 years depends on how much the opposition objects. Its hard to see beyond that point.

Americans have set a dangerous precedent by giving one party so much power.
