Exit polls were not accurate this time because of fear and coercion. There are likely many (only need about 5-10%) voters who would rather not face the onslaught of Michael Moore's cameras (or even friends they may have gone to vote with) on an exit poll while proudly proclaiming they voted for Bush.

Much easier to say you voted for Kerry, but actually vote for Bush once in the privacy of the voting booth.
