In my case, the stops are mental and not actually placed with the brokerage firm. The price had already moved before I noticed the stop price being hit. Therefore, I never got to place the sell order.

If I had set the sell order with the broker, and it did hit, the exact same buy setup existed with another bullish engulfing pattern by the close of that day.

Since I prefer not to place my stops with the brokerage firm, I sometimes miss my targets by a few cents both to the upside and downside.

In this case, I wasn't quick enough to spot the price action and I stayed with the trade.
