"Another favorite tact of Christian-nation advocates is to quote the Declaration of Independence"....The religious references in the Declaration are unmistakably deistic:"

The Deistic part is debatable but what is "unmistakable" is that the "inalienable rights" cited in the declaration are based on transcendent creator God.

Why do you think you can destroy the premise of an argument and still keep the conclusions????

"One counter to the Christians' misuse of various deistic praise of "Nature's" God is to argue that if Paine and Jefferson and Washington had only lived after Charles Darwin had explained his theories regarding evolution, they would have quickly abandoned even a deistic god."

Perhaps, but they also would have lost their main moral argument for revolution in the first place. They could of course come up with others like; the King is not here and we are stronger than his forces so whatever we do is...well, it's what we do. It's not right or wrong,(those are just words we use) it just is; and if you don't like it, we will just kill you.

You should know better!
