Seems to me you do not appreciate what Fundamentalists and Evangelists and Mr. Bush Jr. firmly believe --- that Bush Jr. is God's instrument for defeating the Moslem terrorists and that all setbacks are but faith-testing trials that had to be endured and overcome until victory is granted! LOL!

Who says that old-time religion has no clout in the 21st century?
Who says lightning doesn't strike twice?

When someone said that a hurricane would not strike Florida a second time after the first, three more hurricanes struck that state in quick succession!

Not too long ago I wrote that if Bush won the election, the whole world would be laughing at America. And the days are telling I am not far off the mark on that one.

Frankly, I believe the terrorists in Iraq would eventually be defeated.
Maybe not in Bush's time. Even when defeated in Iraq they are likely to rear their ugly heads (turbaned and non-turbaned) elsewhere as a perennial nuisance.

Occupiers?? When did the USA ever occupy any country? We could have done just that in Germany & Japan. Instead we stayed just long enough to help them rebuild, and to teach them to strengthen their nations with good old fashioned capitalism. GW's plan is to leave Iraq ASAP, but first the mission must be accomplished. Iraqi soldiers have already stormed the hospital outside Fallujah and recaptured it without firing a shot. Once there are enough of them trained to confront the terrorists themselves, and of course after Jan elections, American troops will come home.
