The difference is that violent Muslim actions are widespread and are directly threateing the Western ideals and way of life. How do you think Muslims see our attacking Afghanistan and Iraq with little preamble? From their perspective, we must look like Goliath coming down hard on David. From there perspective, they are at the whim of any American president. From their perspective, they have no choice but to fight. It seems many Americans can ignore the violence we perpetrate but are scandalized by the violence perpetrated by others.
