MRK is a basket case. There are two huge factors against it, beside the loss of revenue/income from Viox.
1. MRK is a huge institutional holding. There is massive bailing going on. Its too early for the "deep value" players to step up to the plate. I think MRK will become a teenager before the end of the year when tax loss selling really kicks in and final portfolio adjusting for end of year reports.
2. There is an unquantifiable liability for MRK due to potential deaths from a drug that was so widely used. the lawyers will or are going crazy over this one. tobacco, asbestos, and now Viox. A sign of things to come in the medical liability field?
I have no position in MRK. Falling knives are falling knives. this puppy has a long ways to go to build a base. larry
