Conservatives are borrow and spenders. I remember back in the days when the Democrats ran Washington, you'd hear the Republicans whine about deficit spending, and if they ran the show things would be so better managed. Well, they have 4 years of track record behind them, and it stinks. They've spent money like there's no tomorrow, deficits are at records highs. So much for conservative fiscal policies, such as pay as you go, which worked quite well in the late 1990s to bring about surplusses. I do conceed your point about regulation though. The conservatives are more or less a laizze faire bunch, except with something like hemp, which is perfectly safe, but threatens too many fat cat markets, then they're fine with regulation.
