I think Dean would have beat Bush I doubt it. I think a moderate with a strong pro-national defense and anti-terrorism record could have beaten Bush. I think most of the liberal base voted for Kerry and would have voted for Dean, but I don't see Dean taking a lot of votes outside of that base. The base would have been more excited about Dean but the voter turnout was high. There wasn't a huge untapped reserve of Democratic/"blue"/liberal potential voters who didn't show up. Tim
